One Brown bear (Ursus arctos) was reportedly killed by some unknown offenders on 6th August,2018 at kilishai area of Minimarg Astore. A team was contituted under the direct supervision of Conservator Wildlife. The CF with his team visited the crime site and arrested two suspects for interrogation. With the help of local Police The suspects identified following offenders who were involved in illegal killing of the above wild animal through poison.

The investigation team completed its case and brought the offenders in the court of Forest Magistrate 1st class Astore. The Forest Magistrate through summary trial sent the offenders for one year imprisonment and fined Rs three lac each. Upon non payment of the fine within a week time they will further go for one more year imprisonment and thier livestock will be auctioned and the money so collected will be deposited into Govt Treasury. Furthermore a life time ban on the family on entry into GB for grazing purpose has also been imposed.
